Buffalo Twp. Community Days approaching and growing!
Sarver, PA (May 10, 2012) The Action on the Track at Lernerville Speedway was at a fever pitch last Friday night as the hot temperatures led to some hot tempers when race leaders were relieved of their positions as eventual feature winners made their way to Sheetz Victory Lane. Nobody likes to be passed, especially when they’re leading a race, but things happen, bumpers get creased, cars spin, emotions run high and fans go wild! Brian Swartzlander, Mike Johnson, Garrett Krummert, Ed Lynch Jr., Ryan Moyer and Corey McPherson all watched wins slip out of their hands for a variety of different reasons and incidents. Some were self-inflicted, others were in the wrong place at the wrong time, but the reason doesn’t matter when you let one slip away as much as the simple fact that you did! Luckily for all parties involved, Fab Four Racing is back on tap this Friday Night, May 11 on Breast Cancer Awareness Night and our friends from the Twin-State Auto Racing Club will be on hand for their annual visit to the Action Track! Last week’s feature winners were Pete Miller III in the Ti22 Sprints (his first career win at Lernerville Speedway), Jared Miley in the Precise Late Models (his second of the season), Defending Track Champion Jeremiah Shingledecker in the Diehl Mods and Terry Young in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman (his first since 2009). Current Budweiser points leaders are Kevin Schaeffer in the Ti22 Sprints, Jared Miley in the Precise Lates, Jeremiah Shingledecker in the Diehl Mods and Corey McPherson in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman. Hopefully the spirit of Mother’s Day will promote cooler heads and less carnage on the race track! We will continue with our annual tradition of collecting $5 donations for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Fans are also asked to wear pink to support the cause. If you need one, we have a ton of brand new 2012 Lernerville Speedway/Fab Four Racing t-shirts in hot pink for sale in the souvenir stand under the turn four/front stretch grandstands! The pink t-shirts would also make an awesome Mother’s Day gift if you waited until the last minute, (read racing husband or son who forgot it was Mother’s Day weekend!) In exchange for their generosity, fans will receive a $5 coupon for next Friday, May 18’s Fab Four Racing program which will feature the 358/Small Block Modifieds in place of our Diehl Auto Group DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds on Armed Forces Night. We have a few special guests and events planned for Armed Forces Night, stay tuned for details! We might be a little bit biased, but is there a better gift for Mother’s Day than race tickets to the 6th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com or the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XXI Twin 30s? You can purchase tickets by phone at (724) 353-1511 during normal business hours or 24/7 at recently relaunched Lernerville.com by clicking the “Buy Tickets” tab on the top right of the page. Looking down the road, the Buffalo Township Community Days, yes Days not Day, will be held on the Lernerville Speedway grounds again this year. Previously a one day event, 2012 brings an expansion from one day to two, and a half! A few carnival rides will be set up for kids in the parking lot between the press box and the pit gate and fans will have access to the rides all night to keep the kiddos entertained. The official start of Community Days is Saturday, June 1 and will continue on Sunday, June 2. Community days features a variety of local businesses, crafts and food vendors, community organizations and church groups trying to bring the community together for the collective good of the entire community!
