2nd Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com will be Televised on SPEED! Sarver, PA (March 24, 2008) World Racing Group announced yesterday that SPEED will be the exclusive television partner for World of Outlaws racing in 2008. The partnership will be anchored by five super-sized multi-hour events, including the 2nd Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com which will air on Sunday July 13 from 5-7 p.m.
“The broadcast agreement with SPEED continues the solid growth we realized in 2007,” said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. “The more than 75 million viewers on SPEED give our corporate partners, like Advance Auto Parts, as well as our teams and our promoters, the greatest opportunity to reach our fans on a consistent basis. SPEED is the home for racing on television and we’re excited to again have the World of Outlaws on SPEED this season.”
The Firecracker telecast will mark the third race from Lernerville Speedway broadcast on national television since the start of the 2007 season. In 2007, both the Showdown in Sarvertown for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Cleveland Brothers CAT Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XVI for the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series were broadcast, both in a compressed, one hour format. The two-hour Firecracker 100 telecast will feature highlights of the qualifying events and every lap of the 100 lap A-Main shootout, which was captured last season by Scott Bloomquist. Last season, Bloomquist hoisted a $30,000 check in Victory Lane. This year’s victor will claim a whopping $40,000 check, celebrating the 40th Anniversary Season of the Lernerville Speedway. “The Inaugural Firecracker 100 was such a success last season,” stated Lernerville General Manager Gary Risch Jr. “The challenge going into year two was how do we make it even bigger and better? The answer is threefold. First, we increased the purse to $40,000-to-win, then we added a presenting sponsor in GottaRace.com, an industry leader in motorsports apparel, and now this announcement that the race will be broadcast on SPEED, the industry leader in motorsports television!” Last year’s Inaugural $30,000-to-win event attracted over 60 of the absolute best Late Model drivers in the country. This year’s nationally televised, $40,000-to-win extravaganza should bring in at least 100 cars. While it will be must see TV, nothing can take the place of seeing the real thing in person! While the telecast will be seen on July 13, the actual race itself will be a two-day show on Friday-Saturday June 27-28. Two-day, advance tickets for the Firecracker are on sale now by contacting the speedway office during normal business hours. The advance ticket purchase will come with a free pit pass upgrade for Friday night’s qualifying events and access to an exclusive driver autograph session Saturday afternoon. Can’t wait until the end of June to see the World of Outlaws Late Model Series slingin’ clay around the 4/10 mile Sarver Speedplant? Don’t worry! The Outlaws will roll into town for a Firecracker tune up on Tuesday April 15 for the Showdown in Sarvertown sponsored by Y108. Advance tickets for the Showdown are also on sale now.
