Pastor Bill, as he is known to racers and fans alike, has been posting daily updates on Facebook; follow their long and winding road to recovery at www.facebook.com and search Bill Beck. Advance tickets are still available by sending a check or money order for $10 per meal to Mercer Raceway Park at 4368 US 422, Pulaski, PA 16143 or call 724-964-9300. Donations of Chinese auction items and baked goods are also being accepted. There will be a February 4 (that’s this Thursday) deadline for ticket orders.
Congratulations go out to Kevin Bolland who is being inducted into the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame on April 18, 2010. “Revin’ Kevin” is fifth on the All Time Wins list in the Diehl Auto Group DIRTcar Modifieds with 47 career wins at the Lernerville Speedway. He eclipsed the 100 total wins mark this past summer; including wins at Sharon, Tri-City and Mercer. Local Sprint Car Ace Bob Felmlee got a jumpstart on the 2010 season last weekend, joining the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints at Ocala Speedway in Florida. Bob turned the 11th quickest lap of time trials, transferred directly into the A-Main by finishing second in his heat, and then crossed under the checkered flag in sixth place in the All Star A-Main. Saturday Night’s race was rained out, but the racing action picks up tomorrow night, Wednesday February 3, at Volusia Speedway Park with a practice session. The 410 Sprints will hit the big Florida track for the 39th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH with All Star sanctioning of Wednesday and Thursday and World of Outlaws sanctioning Friday through Sunday. 2009 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year Brian Ellenberger is also in Florida, as are 2009 All Stars Champion Tim Shaffer and former three-time All Star Champion Dale Blaney. Needless to say, Western Pennsylvania/Eastern Ohio will be well represented in the Sunshine State! The UMP Modifieds are also on the card at the DIRTcar Nationals. They were scheduled to start tonight, but weather has postponed the opener until tomorrow (Wednesday February 3) and they will continue to run through next Tuesday Night, February 9. Over the past two seasons, regional UMP Modified drivers Dave Hess Jr. and Randy Hall have both won A-Mains at the DIRTcar Nationals. Both drivers, (Hess in 2008, followed by Hall in 2009) also claimed the All Star Challenge, an online voting contest for all DIRTcar Nationals winners worth a handsome $10,000. The UMP and World of Outlaws Late Models move into Volusia when the Sprints roll out. Late Models will take to the track next Monday February 8 and continue on to the final night of the Nationals on Saturday February 13. The Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds will take the place of the UMP Modifieds starting on Wednesday February 10 and continuing until the final night of the Nationals on Saturday February 13. Those stuck in the frozen confines of Western Pennsylvania can follow the 39th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH on www.DIRTVision.com. We will also be providing updates on all of the locals in competition on www.Twitter.com/Lernerville or by simply clicking the Twitter logo on our homepage www.Lernerville.com. The first All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series race at Lernerville Speedway in 2010, originally scheduled for Friday May 21, has been rescheduled for Friday June 4. The support divisions (UMP Mods and UMP Pro Late Models) will also move to Friday June 4. May 21 is now scheduled for a Fab Four Racing event.
