Kenny Ross Night and the Rosalie Bolland Memorial Blood Drive

Silver Cup Draws Near!

SARVER, PA (July 8, 2010) Every year the list gets a little bit longer, and unfortunately also sometimes a little bit shorter.  That list is the names of retired drivers from the 40+ year history of Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway.  It gets longer as more drivers retire and more retired drivers come to the attention of Don Gamble, the coordinator of the annual Lernerville Speedway Nostalgia Night.  Sadly, however, we lose a few drivers each year to the big race track in the sky, as one by one, the heroes of days gone by rejoin the late, great Don Martin;  most notably this season, 2010 Hall of Famer Herb Scott.

But while Herb will undoubtedly be the topic of many discussions this Friday Night, July 9, the main focus is on those drivers whom are still with us and will be on hand to meet & greet the fans, sign autographs and talk about the “good old days” from 5:00PM until 7:00PM.

Retired drivers scheduled to attend Nostalgia Night are: Johnny Axe, (winner of the first feature at Lernerville Speedway), Lernerville Speedway Hall of Famers Dick Bailey, Dick Swartzlander, Ed Lynch Sr., Dave Hoffman, Blackie and Ralph Quarterson, Ray Baselj, Skip Bertges, Paul Brougher, Harley Chuba, Bob Davidson, Lou Gentile, Howie Goss, Harry Hein, Doc Harmon, Kenny & Kevin Harris, Mark Harvanek, Larry Johnston, Walt Keller, George Leon, Dave Lundy, Rick Majors, Jim Magill, Jerry Matus, Dave Meloy, Chuck McDowell, Ron McIntyre, Dave Mohn, Mark Muehlman, the not yet retired Carl Murdick, Art Osmer, Barry Peters, John Phillips, Frank Raiti, Dave Rupp, Deek Scott, Pit Boss Smokey Schempp, Gus Sholich, Jack Sodeman Sr., Bob Stanford, Bruce Taylor, Dave Thompson, Jim & Tom Valasek and Bill Wheeling.

Nostalgia Cars scheduled to be on display include Paul Backus’ Deek Modified #7A, Lynn Geisler’s Webster PRA #7, Howie Goss’ 1957 Chevy 12J, Jorn (Yawn) Jenson’s #28 Race Car, Jerry McDowell’s Sprint #22, Junior Radvansky’s Midget Race Car, Tom Robertson’s Scott #180 Coupe, Darwin Stivenson’s Old Chevy Coupe, John Astarb’s Kennedy’s #9 Late Model and Bob Stanford’s 1983 Porsche mid engine 427 Chevy.

Lernerville Speedway will also be hosting its Annual Blood Driver in Loving Memory of Rosalie Bolland in coordination with the Central Blood Bank on Kenny Ross Night.  Donors will receive meal vouchers and one lucky donor will be selected as our “Fan of the Week”.  The Fan of the Week prize pack includes Two Free Fab Four Racing tickets, a 2010 Lernerville Speedway t-shirt or hat, a Large Pizza from the Player’s Club Pizza Stand and a trip to Sheetz Victory Lane!

Entering this Friday Night, Danny Holtgraver (Ti22 Performance DIRTcar Sprints), Dave Hess Jr. (DIRTcar Late Models), Kevin Bolland (Diehl Auto Group DIRTcar Modifieds) and Joe Kelley (Charapp Route 28 DIRTcar Sportsman) lead their respective divisions in the Budweiser Point Standings.  Ed Lynch Jr. (Ti22 Sprints), Hess (DIRTcar Lates), Dave Murdick (Diehl Mods) and Kelley (Charapp 28 Sportsman) won their respective features last Friday, July 2.

The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XIX is less than two weeks away!  Lernerville Speedway is the only place on the planet to see two World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series features on the same night!  Each feature is 30-laps, $15,000-to-win and the second race starts with an inversion of the lead lap cars from the first feature!  The Silver Cup will flat out be the best Sprint Car race of the season!  Will Joey Saldana finally claim a Silver Cup? Can Ed Lynch Jr., Timmy Shaffer, Brian Ellenberger or Dale Blaney thrill the hometown crowd?  Will Dave Blaney return to where it all began to claim one of the Crown Jewels of Sprint Car Racing?  There’s only one way to find out!  Buy your tickets now at www.Lernerville.com and receive a FREE pit pass upgrade!!
