Russ King ready for another Firecracker 100 weekend

Former WoO LMS Rookie of the Year Russ King ready for another Firecracker 100 weekend

Sarver, PA (June 5, 2014) Few drivers of any ilk, (local stars, regional racers, travelling Outlaws or Crown Jewel specialists), have experienced the highs and lows of the Firecracker 100 like Russ King has over the past seven seasons. As a rising local star, King struggled to find his way into the A-Main in the early years, then returned to one of his home tracks as a travelling member of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series during his eventual Rookie of the Year campaign to run a solid race and now has become one of the defenders of the Action Track. King won last year’s $3,000-to-win Uncle Sam 30 non-qualifiers race, but through it all, he always finds a way to just enjoy the atmosphere and camaraderie more than anything else.

8th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com FAQs

Q. What is the 8thAnnual Firecracker 100?
A. Eight years later, the Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com has become a well-established Crown Jewel of Dirt Late Model Racing. The three-day format, which debuted in 2010, took a backseat to Mother Nature last season, but with great racing all three nights and an incredible array of family-friendly events that allows fans of all ages access to interact with their favorite drivers, it’s back for 2014! Three nights, three complete shows, capped off by the 100-lap, $30,000-to-win Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com A-main!

Thursday and Friday nights will feature a full World of Outlaws Late Model Series program complete with time trials, heats, Last Chance Showdowns, and $6,000-to-win, 30-lap A-main.

A points system from nights one & two will set the heat lineups for Saturday night. Following the heats will be a pair of Last Chance Showdowns, the Uncle Sam 30 non-qualifier’s race and the 6th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com A-main

Josh Richards added his name to the impressive list of Firecracker 100 winners by doing the unthinkable . . . he won all three A-Mains last year; Thursday night, Saturday afternoon and again Saturday night for a clean sweep! Other past winners include two-time winners Scott Bloomquist and Jimmy Mars, Brian Birkhofer and Shane Clanton. Unfortunately, Richards is not expected to defend his Firecracker crown, as Rick Eckert has replaced him in the Rocket house due to medical issues.
