Steel City Stampede Flashback – John Garvin Jr. finally cashes in!

Sarver, PA (October 17, 2012) John Garvin Jr. owns and operates, along with his father John Garvin Sr., a salvage yard literally in the shadows of Lernerville Speedway.  Any Tom, Dick or Harry can drop off and cash in on a load of scrap, but Garvin himself has not been able to cash in at Lernerville Speedway; that it is until last October at the Third Annual DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede!

Steel City Stampede Flashback – Second go ‘round made Lernerville History!

Sarver, PA (October 10, 2012) Building on the success of the Inaugural DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede in 2009, the second running of the event in 2010 made Action Track history; the pits overflowed with over 220 cars in competition, forcing cars to pit in the infield for the very first time in the 40+ year history of Lernerville Speedway!  Highlighted by a door-to-door finish in the BRP Tour/Diehl Mods feature, the Second Annual Steel City Stampede wasn’t just about quantity; the quality of racing was fantastic!

Steel City Stampede Flashback – Inaugural Event highlighted by thrilling upset of Apollo Rocket

Sarver, PA (October 3, 2012) With three weeks remaining until the Fourth Annual DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede, let’s take a quick trip in the (not so) way back machine to three years ago and the Inaugural event.  Rain kicked back the schedule a day with heats being contested on Saturday and features running Sunday afternoon in front of a beautiful fall foliage back drop off the back straightaway!

Heat race winners read like a who’s who of Lernerville Speedway current and all time greats with Ed Lynch Jr., Rod George, John Flinner, Brian Swartzlander, Dave Hess Jr. (albeit in a UMP Modified) and Joe Kelley all taking the checkers on Saturday Night.  In all, 173 cars filled the pits across 8 divisions of racing!

2011 Steel City Stampede feature winners were Dale Blaney (Ti22 Sprints), John Garvin Jr. (Precise Lates), Chad Brachmann (Diehl/BRP Mods), Chris Schneider (Pic-A-Part Sportsman/Stock), Dave Hess Jr. (UMP/UEMS Mods), Butch Lambert (Pro Lates), Jeff Tetters (Mod Lites), Adam Pletcher (4 Cyl.) and Chris Potochnak (Enduro).

Why: 410 Sprints, Super Late Models and Big Block Modifieds will be racing for $3000-to-win; FASTRAK Northeast (Pro) Late Models will be racing for $2,000-to-win; Sportsman/Stocks, UMP/UEMS Modifieds and Enduros will be racing for $1000-to-win; while the 305 Sprints, 4-Cylinders and Mod Lites will be racing for $500-to-win.

In addition to the increased payouts, the feature winners will also be crowned as the DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede Champions.

And finally, to get one last weekend of racing in before the Action Track goes dark for the season!

Where to Stay: Camping is FREE!  In a change from last year, all camping is first come, first serve and free of charge.  Unfortunately, there are no electric/water hookups available for camping at Lernerville Speedway.

The Days Inn in Butler, PA is the top recommendation for travelers planning to stay at a hotel.  The Days Inn in Butler is located 10 miles from the speedway on Route 8 just south of Butler.  The Days Inn has an indoor pool, on-site restaurant & lounge and is in close proximity to a handful of restaurants including McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Burger King.  Other nearby towns with hotels include (arranged in order of proximity) Butler, Kittanning, New Kensington, Cranberry Twp. and Harmar Twp.  Of those locations, while a little but further away, The Days Inn in Harmar Twp. probably provides the second best option to Butler as it is a short, easy trip down Routes 356 & 28 and the area is loaded with restaurants, hotels and retail options.

How to get involved: The DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede is more than a three-day show; it’s also a total fan experience.  The Round Up Tent will be open each night after the on track action has come to a close with music to help you unwind and maybe even rub elbows with your favorite driver(s)!

In Closing: Don’t miss out on the opportunity to take part in this exciting three-day show at Lernerville Speedway!  The DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede will be the last chance in 2012 to see our Fab Four Racing divisions, plus five other divisions and another 100-lap Enduro on Saturday Night.  For rules and procedures for the DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede, log on to www.Lernerville.com and click the Steel City Stampede tab on the top our homepage.
