Who: The 3rd Annual Firecracker presented by GottaRace.com is a World of Outlaws Late Model Series-sanctioned event.  As such, these touring drivers of the WoO LMS will be in action; Darrell Lanigan, Josh Richards, Chub Frank, Steve Francis, Shannon Babb, Rick Eckert, Clint Smith, Shane Clanton, Billy Moyer, Tim Fuller, Brady Smith, Vic Coffey, and  WoO LMS Rookie of the year candidates Russell King, Brent Robinson, Jordan Bland, Dustin Hapka and Tyler Reddick.  World of Outlaws driver Tim McCreadie is also registered to compete for the Firecracker crown after a lengthy recovery from a nasty wreck at the Chili Bowl this winter.

Lernerville regulars Gregg Satterlee , Alex Ferree, Doug Horton, Lynn Geisler, John Flinner, Jared Miley, Gary Lyle, Matt Lux, John Mollick, Keith Barbara, Ken Schaltenbrand, Bob Wearing Jr., Michael Norris and last year’s Firecracker hero Mike Blose will represent the Lernerville Speedway during the three-day show on June 25-27.

Regional drivers Dave Hess Jr., Dan Stone, Rick “Boom” Briggs, Robbie Blair, Jason Covert, Chuck Harper, Mike Knight, Ricky Elliott, Colby Frye, Ron Davies, Jeremy Miller and Davey Johnson are all expected to stake their claim for the $30,000-to-win, 100-lap shootout.

Dale McDowell, driver of the Clint Bowyer Motorsports #17M, is registered for the event.  Other nationally known Late Model drivers are also expected to attend, but have not yet registered for the race.  Some national drivers who have competed in previous Firecrackers and are fully expected to compete this year include Earl Pearson Jr., Jimmy Mars, Eddie Carrier, Donnie Moran, Brandon Kinzer, Bart Hartman, Chad Ruhlman and Rick Aukland.

Scott Bloomquist, winner of the Inaugural Firecracker 100, will be on hand, as will Team Zero driver Jimmy Owens.  Owens is fresh off the biggest win of his career at the Dream at Eldora Speedway on June 6 and Bloomquist is always ready to hoist the big check.  Chris Madden is also expected to be in competition, so along with Bloomquist and Owens, as well as Outlaws regulars Rick Eckert and Brady Smith, Team Zero will be a strong factor in the outcome of the 3rd Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com

Defending Firecracker 100 Champion Brian Birkhofer raked in over $90,000 for four victories in the month of May and is geared up to defend his Firecracker Crown.  He credits last year’s victory in which he got to wave a Terrible Towel in Victory Lane as the greatest thrill of his racing career.  Despite hailing from Muscatine, Iowa, being a diehard Steelers fan makes him a fan favorite every time he rolls onto the Action Track!  He will also be a favorite to win the $30,000 winner’s share of the purse next Saturday Night!

Why: To crown a $30,000+ Firecracker Champion.  The winner’s purse is $30,000; the “+” comes into the equation with lap money provided by sponsors for each of the 100 laps.  Lap Sponsors will be posted on the website soon and will add an additional $2500-$3000 to the overall purse.  Whichever driver leads each given lap, wins the lap money for that lap.  Lap money ranges from $25-$100 per lap.  Sponsors range from local race teams and businesses; local, regional and national print and online media outlets; racing related companies like Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Edge Racing Engines and GRT Chassis; and other area speedways (Tri-City, PPMS and Hesston).

Where to Stay: Reserved Camping is available on site, but as was sold out as of June 1!  Reserved camping provides a flat space with proximity to the pits.  General Camping will also be available free of charge on a first come, first serve basis, but will be further away from the track.  There are no electric/water hookups in either area.  But Maui Showers will be on hand for your hygiene pleasure!  Showers are just $6, but please bring your own towel and toiletries!  Check them out at www.MauiShowers.com.

The Days Inn in Butler, PA is the top recommendation for travelers planning to stay at a hotel.  The Days Inn in Butler is located 10 miles from the speedway on route 8 just south of Butler.  The Days Inn has an indoor pool, on-site restaurant & lounge and is in close proximity to a handful of restaurants including McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Burger King.  Other nearby towns with hotels include (arranged in order of proximity) Butler, Kittanning, New Kensington, Cranberry Twp. and Harmar Twp.  Of those locations, while a little but further away, The Days Inn in Harmar Twp. probably provides the second best option to Butler as it is a short, easy trip down routes 356 & 28 and the area is loaded with restaurants, hotels and retail options.

How to get involved: The 3rd Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com is more than a two-day World of Outlaws Late Model Series race, this year it’s a three-day race!  But more than just a race, the Firecracker 100 weekend is also a total fan experience.  On Thursday Night after the Showdown in Sarvertown makeup feature and Firecracker practice session, the pits will be opened up for a post-race Rockin’ Pit Party open to all fans, even those without pit passes.  On Friday Night, after time trials, heat races and a fireworks display by Premier Pyrotechnics, fans are invited to attend a post-race concert in the parking lot behind the main grandstand.  National Recording Artist Vanessa Campagna will perform along with local Country/Rock Band NoMAD.

The off-track fan festivities resume Saturday at noon for a weenie roast with music by Sarah Wilson.  Shortly following the beginning of the weenie roast will be the Annual Driver/Fan Horseshoe Tournament.  Five-Time Lernerville Track Champion Lynn Geisler is also the Two-Time Defending Firecracker Horseshoe Tournament Champion.  Fans will be selected Friday Night during qualifying action.  Following the Horseshoe Tournament, there will be a driver Q&A session on the concert stage.  The fan interaction peaks with a pre-race Driver Autograph Session under the grandstands Saturday Afternoon.  As mentioned above, you can get priority access to the Driver Autograph Session by purchasing your tickets in advance.
