McPherson’s perfect start to 2012

McPherson’s perfect start to 2012

Miley leads Late Model points, Sprints & Mods tied at top

Fab Four Racing with Cinco de Mayo Eve this Friday, May 4

Sarver, PA (May 2, 2012) Nicknamed the Tarentum Terror by Lernerville Speedway PA Announcer Dow Carnahan, Corey McPherson is instilling fear into the hearts of his competitors in the ultra-competitive Millerstown Pic-A-Part DIRTcar Sportsman division with his dominant start to the 2012 season.  In two weeks of Fab Four Racing, McPherson is a perfect four-for-four, winning his heat race and feature both nights; resulting in a perfect 80 points in the Budweiser Points.

The 2009 Lernerville Speedway Rookie of the Year struggled through a miserable 2010 with engine failures on what seemed like a weekly basis.  He came back all guns blazing in 2011 and scored his first career feature win on Friday, June 3.  He followed that up with a second win on August 5 and finished the season 3rd in points.

McPherson has set goals to win races and the 2012 Budweiser Track Championship, and while he’s accomplished the goal of winning races, the road to the Track Championship is long and winding and is vested in consistent finishes when the wins don’t come.

Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Model points leader Jared Miley is another driver off to a torrid pace in 2012 with one heat race win, an Opening Night feature win and a second place finish this past Friday Night.  Miley, like McPherson, has a simple if lofty goal to win as many races as possible, but like most of the young, local late model stars, is not committed to running for a track championship due to a bevy of high-paying special shows throughout the course of the season.  However, if things work out to that end, he’d join his uncle (Ben Miley) as a Late Model Track Champion at the Action Track; joining Dick and Brian Swartzlander as Uncle/Nephew Track Champions.

There’s a tie atop the Budweiser Points in the other two divisions of Fab Four Racing.  Opening Night Feature winner Kevin Schaeffer is tied with 17 year old rising star Brandon Matus with 69 points in the Ti22 Performance DIRTcar Sprints.  Meanwhile, last Friday’s feature winner Kevin Bolland is tied with Defending Track Champion Jeremiah Shingledecker with 72 points in the Diehl Auto Group DIRTcar Late Models.

We will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo Eve this Friday Night during Fab Four Racing with a sombrero for feature winning drivers in Sheetz Victory Lane, a piñata for the kids and if a driver in any division wins a feature from fifth on the starting grid, five lucky fans will win tickets to a future Fast Friday of Fab Four Racing!
