Schneider $2000 worth of Spectacular in Autumn-Motive Fest Fosnaught scores emotional first win, Carbo Dashes to Victory Hill becomes first repeat Enduro winner
Sarver, PA (September 19, 2010) An astounding 51 stock cars signed in last night for the chance to run for $2,000 at the premier dirt track racing facility in Western PA. The Sportsman/Stock Spectacular (formerly known as Pure Stock Pandemonium) continues to be the showcase event for stock car racing in Pennsylvania with a handsome purse and great door-to-door action from start to finish!
It turns out, however, that 50 of those cars were just running for second place as Chris Schneider was flat out dominant leading all 30 laps of the Sportsman/Stock Spectacular after starting on the pole. Schneider is the founder and owner of SS Chassis, the predominant “stock car” chassis in the area. His understanding of chassis setup and years of experience at the Action Track was clearly evident last night as he masterfully hit his marks from the green flag, through multiple restarts, in lapped traffic and the whole way until the checkered flag waved.
Schneider was locked into the event by virtue of the Mid-Season Championship Track provisional, but transferred directly into the A-Main after winning his heat race. He won the Mid-Season Championship in a different car, driving the #8B that night. He previously won in the #20J of Jim Fosnaught two years ago, while subbing for Fosnaught, and in his own #55 several years ago when he was a regular, weekly competitor in the division. He has also made numerous trips to Sheetz Victory Lane over the past few seasons to celebrate with the drivers whom drive his chassis. But last night was far and away the biggest payday of his career at Lernerville Speedway, as he cashed in on the $2,000 winner’s share of the Sportsman/Stock Spectacular purse.
Jeff Walters battled with Jeff Taylor and Dan Smeal for most of the 30-lap feature before Smeal broke late in the race. Walters crossed the finish line second, while Rusty Martz passed Taylor on the last lap for third. Ryan Moyer was the highest finishing Lernerville Speedway weekly competitor, (both Schneider and Walters are casual regulars), coming from the tail, (along with Rusty Martz), after late race pit stops to replace a flat tires, to finish fifth.
Wayne Carbo finished sixth all the way from 19th on the starting grid. Carbo also won the Charapp Route 28 Dash for Cash earlier in the evening. The rest of the Sportsman/Stock Spectacular top ten rounded out with Greg Fenno, Paul Schreckengost, Dom Surra and Tim Bish.
Lernerville front runners Joe Kelley, Bob Egley, Bob Lipinski, A.J. Flick, Jason Fosnaught, Brett McDonald and Corey McPherson all had terrible luck throughout the night. Kelley and Lipinski couldn’t even answer the bell to start the A-Main using track provisionals. Jim Fosnaught fought through busted rear suspension to finish 12th in the A-Main, Troy Jeuther finished 14th, Bob Lipinski 22nd, Kevin Haas 23rd, Jason Fosnaught 24th and Paul Petrovich 25th.
One of the highlights of the Sportsman/Stock Spectacular is the Lernerville non-winner’s race. This 15-lap event guarantees a first time feature winner. Last year, Randy Hanovick scored an emotional win, this year was Jim Fosnaught’s turn. Fosnaught battled his friend and associate sponsor Kevin Haas in the early laps for the lead, but both spun out in turns three & four. They went to the tail together, but there was no stopping Jimmy on his way to Sheetz Victory Lane. Even a broken left rear shock could not stop the #20J as Jimmy scored an emotional feature win after six years of trying! He dedicated the win to his late grandfather!
Heat race winners were Paul Schreckengost, Dan Smeal, Greg Fenno, Jeff Walters, Chris Schneider and Chris Withers.
Sarver’s own Tyler Hill appears to have mastered the winning formula in the Enduro. Hill outraced and outraced over 80 competitors to become the first repeat winner since the Enduro was reintroduced two seasons ago. Harry Wolfe, Paul Crynock III, Cody Pyle and Justin Phillippi all finished in the money by scoring top five finishes. Full results will be released early this week.
Up next at the Action Track is “The Greatest Show on Dirt” as the World of Outlaws roll into town for the Commonwealth Clash next Saturday, September 25. 2010 Knoxville Nationals Champion Tim Shaffer scored two more wins this weekend to bring his 2010 total to 20 wins. He’ll be looking to score his second at Lernerville Speedway this month, as he won the All Stars Dual in the Dirt feature on Friday, September 3. 2010 Lernerville Speedway/Budweiser Track Champion Danny Holtgraver won his sixth feature of the season last night at PPMS, his second win there this year.
Jason Meyers enters next weekend as the Outlaws Points leader by three points over Joey Saldana. The Outlaws will be at Williams Grove Friday night before making their way to the Action Track! Tickets are available now on our website www.Lernerville.com or by calling the speedway office at (724) 353-1511. All advance ticket purchases include a FREE pit pass upgrade!
