Fab Four Race Report 8.22 - Fosnaught Caps Dream Season

Jim Fosnaught endures rain delay to be crowned 2014 Track Champion
Brian Swartzlander adds to Hall of Fame Resume
Logan Wagner wins first 410 Sprint Feature
Michael Norris takes second win of season

Sarver, PA (August 24, 2014)  It appeared as though we had beaten a forecast of rain, but as showers were visible off in the distance of the back straightaway, the first Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Model heat race was deluged by rain coming from turns three & four as they were restarting the race.  Several cars sailed wildly off of turn three as the Action Track was instantly turned into an ice rink.  Thankfully, all the drivers were okay, but Alex Ferree’s car especially was heavily damaged.  A 15-20 minute monsoon ensued and seriously jeopardized the completion of Championship Night.  But the upside was that it was only 8:30 which gave us plenty of time to get the track back and despite less than ideal conditions to push off sprints and hook disabled vehicles after cautions, we were able to complete the Fab Four Racing season on the track with all divisions of!

Corey McPherson has not been mathematically eliminated yet, but it will be nearly impossible to make up a 37-point lead and leapfrog two drivers.

Fab Four Race Report 8.1 - King, Bowser and Ferree reel in Titles with fourth wins of 2014

King, Bowser and Ferree reel in Titles with fourth wins of 2014
Shook prevails as Fosnaught & McPherson tangle behind him

Sarver, PA (August 2, 2014)  On another beautiful Friday Night of Fab Four Racing, our friends from the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club made their annual visit to the Action Track.  And while the temps weren’t exactly typical of the Dog Days of Summer, the action on the track is really starting to heat up in all four divisions.  Brian Swartzlander and Dave Murdick tangled in the opening laps of the Diehl Mods feature and surrendered the lead to Bud Points leader Rex King Jr. who then ran away with his fourth win of the season.  AJ Flick led over a dozen laps on the way to what would have been his first Peoples TWP Sprint feature, only to give way to Brandon Matus and then Carl Bowser.  Matus’s broke, but Bowser went on to chug the Turner’s Premium Iced Tea after his fourth win of the season.  Alex Ferree battled Jared Miley in a late race restart that saw Miley surrender the lead as he slid off the top of turn two and Ferree cruise to his fourth win of the season in the Precise Late Models.  Finally, Rob Shook sealed the deal this week after losing the lead in the final turn of the final lap last week to score his first Pic-A-Part Sportsman win of the season as points leaders Jim Fosnaught and Corey McPherson tangled behind him in turn three coming to the checkered flag.

Fab Four Quick Results 8.1 - Rex King Jr. continues to reign over Diehl Mods

Rex King Jr. continues to reign over Diehl Mods
Carl Bowser and Alex Ferree pad points leads with fourth feature wins
Rob Shook finally found the way to Sheetz Victory Lane in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman

Sarver, PA (August 1, 2014) Three Budweiser Points Leaders found their way back to Sheetz Victory Lane for the fourth time to extend their respective leads. Rex King Jr. was the beneficiary of an early race incident between Dave Murdick and Brian Swartzlander, (that sent each to the tail), to score his fourth Diehl Mods feature win of the season. Carl Bowser and Alex Ferree matched King’s accomplishment by winning their fourth features and padding their points leads in the Peoples TWP Sprints and Precise Lates respectively. The night ended in dramatic fashion as Rob Shook held off a furious charge by both Bud Points leader Jim Fosnaught and Two-Time Defending Track Champion Corey McPherson to finally score his first feature win of the season in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman after three runner-up finishes so far this season. Corey McPherson was disqualified for the night, (no points, no purse money), for an intentional rough driving incident with Jim Fosnaught on the final lap that took out both drivers, as well as a few others.

Frank Spithaler rides Cow Patty to Sheetz Victory Lane
Annette Irapino wins a wild Powder Puff Bus Race
John Wetzel wins a terrific trailer race over Kevin Haas and Brian Caro
Adam Noland wins the closest Enduro race in the modern era

Sarver, PA (July 29, 2014)  As always, the real winners tonight were the kids that got to ride and race their bikes on the Action Track.  An added bonus, some of the heroes of Fab Four Racing were on hand to award the bike racers with trophies and ribbons; Peoples TWP Sprint drivers Brandon Matus and AJ Flick were joined by Millerstown Pic-A-Part Sportsman drivers Corey McPherson, Jim Fosnaught and Rob Shook.  We greatly appreciate these drivers donating their own time to participate in this event!  Frank Spithaler cruised to the “Summer Vacation” School Bus race after early leader Jordan Myers broke mid-race.  Annette Irapino and Rosie Spithaler put on a whale of a show in the Powder Puff Race by repeatedly slamming into each other.  Their contact came to a head in turn four when Annette took Rosie to and into the wall.  The Cow Patty hit the turn four wall hard and almost flipped, but came down on four wheels and rolled to a stop.  In the presence of the Lernerville Safety Crew, Rosie jumped out of the back of her bus and threw her hands up in the air celebrating the thrilling race she had with Annette.  John Wetzel outlasted Kevin Haas and Brian Caro to win the Trailer Race that feature a ton of huge hits between the three.  The night came to a dramatic close as Keith Sherwin and Dan Zimmerman ran down leader Adam Noland in the closing laps of the 100-lap Enduro.  Zimmerman dove under Noland in three & four on lap 96 to take the lead, only to see Noland use the same move in the same turns on lap 99 to take the lead back and seal the $1,000 win.  Zimmerman and Sherwin finished second and third ahead of John Horvat and Mike Krzewzinski.
