History rewritten as 2013 draws near an end - Fab Four Race Report 8.23

History rewritten on many levels as 2013 Fab Four Racing draws near an end
Alex Ferree and Mat Williamson secure Budweiser Track Championships
Ferree, Swartzlander and Kelley add to Hall of Fame Resumes

Sarver, PA (August 23, 2013) The Lernerville Speedway is truly blessed to be graced by so many legendary drivers and families still actively involved on a weekly basis.  Our rich, 40+ history is rewritten on an almost weekly basis as current drivers ascend the All Time wins lists and add their names to the iconic names who have earn the distinction of Lernerville Speedway Track Champions.  Alex Ferree continued to cement himself as one of the all time greats last night by winning his 23rd Late Model feature and securing his fourth Late Model Track Championship; more on those numbers later.  Mat Williamson became the first Canadian to win a Track Championship and quite possibly the youngest driver to win the Modified Title.  He earned this accomplishment on the strength of finishing all 12 features, so far, in the top four positions and beating a trio of former Track Champions in Brian Swartzlander, Dave Murdick and Jeremiah Shingledecker.  Swartzlander himself rewrote history by notching career feature win #81.  Joe Kelley, All Time Sportsman/Stock feature winner, did the same in scoring his 45th career feature win as young guns AJ Flick and Corey McPherson battle for the 2013 crown.  And while history wasn’t made in the Peoples TWP Sprint division, Wayne County Speedway points leader Andrew Palker put on a show in winning the 25-lap, lightning fast feature.

Fab Four Quick Results 8.23 - Ferree wins again, clinches title

Mat Williamson clinches Mods Title despite Brian Swartzlander’s 81st win
Alex Ferree wins from the tail and clinches his fourth Late Model Title
Wayne County invader Andrew Palker steals a win in the Sprints
All-Time Division wins leader Joe Kelley finally scores #45

Sarver, PA (August 23, 2013) Three future Hall of Famers continued to rewrite the Lernerville Speedway record books, as Brian Swartzlander, Alex Ferree and Joe Kelley all scored feature wins; numbers 81, 23 and 45 respectively.  Despite the winning the battle, Swartzlander lost the war as Canadian Sensation Mat Williamson clinched his first Lernerville Track Championship on the strength of another top 4 finish in the Diehl Mods.  Ferree also clinched the 2013 Precise Late Model Track Championship on the strength of his fourth feature win of the season.  But before all this history was rewritten, Wayne County Speedway points leader Andrew Palker dropped in and stole the Peoples TWP Sprint win.  The Sprint points differentials remained unchanged, with Spithaler, Matus, Bowser and Williams all still in the mix, while Corey McPherson regained the top spot in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman on the strength of another second place finish and a rough night for AJ Flick.

Ferree wins Hoffman Memorial - Fab Four Race Report 8.16

Good things happen to good people; Ferree wins Hoffman Memorial
Brandon Matus climbs the fence, Dave Murdick roof dances
Bacchus repeats in Vintage Mods, Miller wins fourth of 2013

Sarver, PA (August 18, 2013) Often times when you do good things for others, good things happen for you in return.  On Friday, August 16, during Lernerville’s Annual Nostalgia Night car-owner Joe Corado and driver Alex Ferree let Bobby Hoffman jump behind the wheel of the #10 Late Model and take a Victory Lap to secure his Hall of Famer father Dave Hoffman’s unfulfilled 300th career win while the Hoffman family watched on in Victory Lane.  Dave’s daughter Saundi, a former area track flagperson, gave Bobby the green and then the commemorative 300-win checkered flag that she had made for her father while he was pursuing his 300th career win.  Just a few short hours later, Alex Ferree drove that same #10 Late Model back into Sheetz Victory Lane after winning the $1,700-to-win Dave Hoffman Memorial for the Precise Late Models; an extra $300 added to the winner’s share of the purse by Dave’s wife Mary in his loving memory.

Dave Murdick cashes in on $1,000 Bonus Bucks from ERacers
Mike Miller scores fourth win and Paul Bacchus repeated in Vintage Mods

Sarver, PA (August 16, 2013) With Dave Hoffman’s family on hand in Victory Lane to remember the late Hall of Famer’s racing success, son Bobby Hoffman, (driving the Joe Corado/Alex Ferree #10), took the green and then checkered flag from daughter Saundi in the flag stand to commemorate their father’s unfulfilled 300th career win. Alex, in turn, drove the #10 car to Sheetz Victory Lane to cash in on the extra $300 in the winner’s share of the purse donated by Mary Hoffman in memory of her beloved husband Dave.  Brandon Matus scored his second feature win in a green to checkers, caution-free Peoples TWP Sprint feature and then climbed the fence!  Paul Bacchus repeated as feature winner in the PA Vintage Modifieds; one heck of a way to celebrate his 60th birthday.  Dave Murdick cashed in on an extra $1,000 courtesy of the ERacers Bonus Bucks program by winning the Diehl Mods feature and Mike Miller scored his fourth feature win of the season in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman.

Swartzlander adds to Hall of Resume - Fab Four Race Report 8.2

Swartzlander adds to Hall of Fame Resume & keeps the sponsor happy
Russell King and Carl Bowser score impressive second wins of 2013
Corey McPherson scores sixth win and chips away at Flick’s point lead

Sarver, PA (August 3, 2013) Few drivers are fortunate enough to keep a sponsor as long as Brian Swartzlander has had MEI on the side of his car, but winning the feature when they are on hand as event sponsor is one of the best ways to make it happen.  Swartzlander did just that Friday Night while the fine folks from McCutcheon Enterprises Inc. watched on from the press box and then joined Swartzlander in Sheetz Victory Lane for the 80th win of his career.  The MEI team also collected donations of over $700 for the JDRF Walk which raises awareness and money for juvenile diabetes research and treatment!  After history was once again rewritten by Swartzlander becoming just the seventh driver in the rich 40+ year history of Lernerville Speedway, the current and future history makers of the Action Track put on a show for the Finest Race Fans in the World as Russell King, Carl Bowser and Corey McPherson all made their triumphant returns to Sheetz Victory Lane.

Brian Swartzlander hits the 80 win plateau of MEI Night
Russell King, Carl Bowser and Corey McPherson also find Sheetz Victory Lane

Sarver, PA (August 2, 2013) It’s always good to win when your sponsors are on hand and sponsoring the night’s Fab Four Racing program and that’s exactly what Brian Swartzlander did on MEI Night, scoring his third win of the season in the Diehl Mods and 80th of his eventual Hall of Fame career.  Russell King ran quite possibly the best race of his career at Lernerville Speedway, (holding off the advances of Garrett Krummert, Mike Pegher Jr. and Alex Ferree), to score his second Precise Late Model win of the season.  Carl Bowser released new tee shirts to the “Finest Race Fans in the World” tonight and then led the 25-lap, caution-free Peoples TWP Sprint feature wire-to-wire for his second win of the season.  Corey McPherson continued his winning ways by scoring his sixth Pic-A-Part Sportsman feature of the 2013 campaign, but only gained two points on Budweiser Points leader AJ Flick who chased him home in second.

Mike Lutz returns a historic ride to Sheetz Victory Lane in Peoples TWP Sprints - Fab Four Race Report 7.26

Mike Lutz returns a historic ride to Victory Lane in Peoples TWP Sprints
Jack Sodeman Jr. injured during heat racing action; out indefinitely
Miley, Murdick and Miller pick up feature wins as well

Sarver, PA (July 26, 2013) Mike Lutz has won three Peoples TWP Sprint features in the past five seasons; each has been in a different car.  On Friday night, he jumped into the McMillin #5M and survived a wild night in the division to score the first feature win for a McMillin owned Sprint car at Lernerville since the mid-70s; the driver? Hall of Famer Ted Wise!  Jared Miley checkered his third Precise Late Model feature of the season over Alex Ferree; but Ferree seized the lead in the Budweiser Point Standings.  Dave Murdick notched his first Diehl Mods win of the season after reprising his role of “Double Duty Dave” by piloting Brother-in-law Gary Rankin’s Sprint car; Rankin himself was subbing for Brent Matus.  Mike Miller kept the “M” theme rolling, (Mike, McMillin, Miley, Murdick), by coming from 12th on the grid to score his second straight Pic-A-Part Sportsman feature and third of the season.  Corey McPherson battled Miller for the lead mid-race but faded late due to a flat tire, while AJ Flick raced to a second place finish and the Budweiser Points lead.

Fab Four Quick Results 7.26 - Lutz, Miley, Murdick & Miller Victorious

Magic Mike Lutz returns to Victory Lane in the McMillin #5M
Murdick checkers first feature of 2013, Miley & Miller score third wins

Sarver, PA (July 26, 2013) Mike Lutz returned to Sheetz Victory Lane for the first time since 2009 behind the wheel of the Jim McMillin #5M tonight.  Budweiser Title contenders, in the Peoples TWP Sprints, Carl Bowser and Brandon Matus were engaged in a dogfight for the lead mid-race, but Matus slid into Francis Sesco who had spun to a stop in turns one & two.  Matus pitted to check for suspension/wheel/tire damage and Carl Bowser pitted after rolling to a stop under caution.  Jack Sodeman Jr. was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation for back & neck pain after a four-car pile-up during heat race action.  We will provide updates in the Race Report as reported by his family.
