Kraig Kinser Wraps up a Busy Week with a Top-Five Finish at Lernerville

Granger, IA—Sept. 25, 2011— With the season quickly winding down and the number of races tapering off, the World of Outlaws had one final three-race swing this past week, as they visited tracks in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Kraig Kinser continued his strong second half of the season wrapping up the trio of races on Saturday, Sept. 24 with a fifth-place finish at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. aboard the Casey’s General Store Maxim.

Kinser started eighth in the 35-lap main event at Lernerville, after winning the second heat race to earn a spot in the dash. He gained a spot on the opening lap of the feature to move into the seventh position. The first caution of the night flew on the second circuit, with the third generation driver lining up sixth on the restart. Kinser would run in that spot for the next 11 laps before moving into the Top-Five on the 13th lap when another caution flag flew.

On the ensuing double file restart, Kinser would get by Jason Sides for fourth, with the latter retaking the spot on the very next lap. The native of Bloomington, Ind. would settle into the fifth spot on the 15th go-around and would run in that position for the final 20 laps to finish fifth, which marked his best-career finish at Lernerville Speedway and his fifth Top-Five of the season.

Kinser took to the famed Eldora Speedway on Friday, Sept. 23 and raced his way from the 22nd starting position to finish 11th. He gained seven spots over the final six laps of the 30-lap feature. The final caution of night flew with four laps remaining and Kinser quickly gained two positions on the restart as he came home just outside of the Top-10.

The trio of races began for the 2005 Knoxville Nationals winner at Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, Mich. on Wednesday, Sept. 21 with a 13th-place finish. He was 16th in time trials and ran sixth in the second of three heat races at the sprawling half-mile. He lined up 16th in the 25-lap main event and gained a couple of spots in the opening five laps. He moved up to 12th on the 18th-lap and ran there until the final lap when Michigan native Dustin Daggett slipped by him.

Kinser is currently eighth in the World of Outlaws championship standings on the strength of 21 Top-10 finishes and five Top-Five performances, as he and the Parsons Motorsports team prepare for the National Open at the famed Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., Sept. 30–Oct. 1.

    Kraig on the three races:
“It was a great end to the week at Lernerville. We had a very strong car and qualified in the right spot and won the heat race to get in the dash. I didn’t really want to see that last caution as we were pretty good in traffic and it was so hard to pass in open track. All in all it was a solid night and the Casey’s General Store crew continues to work hard each and every day. We learned a few things at Hartford and Eldora that will hopefully help us in the next few weeks at a couple of the bigger tracks.”
