Inside Line Promotions – SARVER, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2018) – Greg Wilson produced another memorable charge during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series show at Eldora Speedway last Friday.

Wilson and his Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Alloy Wheels sponsored team qualified ninth quickest, placed seventh in a heat race and ended third in the Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the back of the main event at the BeFour the Crowns Showdown.

“We didn’t qualify horrible, but I messed up on the start a bit and we just missed it a bit with our car in the heat race,” he said. “We were fortunate to transfer out of the B Main. To be honest, it ticked me off because we weren’t very good. We went on attack mode with the car and I was pretty wound up and it paid off.”

Wilson hit the bottom groove to near perfection during the feature as he maneuvered to a third-place result, passing 20 cars along the way to earn the Hard Charger Award.

“Eldora is a place that everybody knows what it means to me,” he said. “When it becomes top dominant it’s hard to pass. No matter if you’re running the top, middle or bottom you have to find a way to not follow. These cars are so even it’s hard to pass. I applaud everything Eldora has done to make the racing better. We’ve worked hard trying to get good where my driving style and everything fits. If we manage to get in the race and it slicks up we’re usually pretty good.”

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Lernerville Speedway, which hosted the Commonwealth Clash. Wilson timed in 16th quickest in qualifying and he finished fourth in a heat race to lock into the 16th starting position for the feature.

“It was probably a little more dominant on the curb, but it was pretty racy,” he said. “I was really happy at the end of the night. Lernerville and Williams Grove have always been a thorn in my side. We’ve never really been that good there so to come out of there with a top 10 and pass some cars, I was pretty happy.”

Wilson gained a half-dozen positions to net a 10th-place result, which was his 10th top 10 of the season.

Next up will be the Champion Racing Oil National Open this Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

“Every time I go there I go with big hopes of improving and usually I end up pretty beat up at the end of the night,” he said. “We’re going to try some stuff a little different to try to help me. At the end of the weekend if we can leave there feeling like we’ve improved it will be a success. I haven’t felt that way in a while at Williams Grove.”

Additionally, Wilson wants to extend his condolences to the family and friends of Greg Hodnett as well as everyone at Heffner Racing.

“Things that happen in racing can make you wake up and look in the mirror to ask whether this is what you should be doing,” he said. “At the end of the day we all love sprint car racing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Greg’s family and Heffner Racing and all the people that he touched. The little bit I talked to him over the years, what a genuine and good guy and one hell of a racer.”
